FAQ
What is the Brock?

The Brock is an independent charity and social enterprise, which provides opportunities for people who battle with chronic mental health illnesses and issues. Therapeutic horticulture, craft and woodwork activities are offered which allow service users to build confidence, self-esteem and develop new skills.
The service users also benefit from the social aspect of the Brock by spending time with other people with shared interests in an environment that encourages social inclusion.

Where do the activities take place?

The Brock is a Garden Centre located at the back of the Strathbrock Partnership Centre at 189a West Main Street, Broxburn, EH52 5LH where most of our activities take place. We also have access to a multipurpose room inside the Partnership Centre, and provided some activities from 17/19 North Bridge Street in Bathgate. A few times a year we organise local outings and also engage in local community projects.

Is there an induction process?

Yes, new people are invited to join us for a mutually suitable session once a week for six weeks. This gives the participant a chance to try the activities available, meet others, and aims to reduce any potential pressure of having to attend. After these six sessions, attendance can be modified according to the needs of the individual.

Is there a level of commitment expected from a service user?

Every person is different, and experiences the world differently. Ongoing attendance can mean anything from daily to fortnightly. We do ask people to agree which sessions they will attend. We know at times other events take priority, so if you are unable to attend, we only ask you let us know.

How can I make a referral?

Anyone can drop by, call us on 01506 858080 or email us at info@thebrock.org to arrange an informal visit and chat. We can discuss the referral process and this gives you the opportunity to ask any questions you may have.

To make a referral after the informal visit, a small referral form needs to be completed by a care or health professional.

How can I be sure my data is safe?
